Ross Schnell - Relentless X0 Video

 @Dlongb13 So true. I get tired of hearing "how light is your bike?". To that I respond..."I have no idea, it doesn't matter to me, I ride this bike everyday so I don't notice it".
After watching this I felt good knowing that Schnell has the same philosophy as me.

 "It seems only fitting to have at least one beer after every hard ride." I dig that, I'd have a beer with Mr. Schnell after a hard ride, but I doubt I could keep up with him on the XC, or probably DH for that matter.

 I wish more people had the outlook of Schnell on life. The one where you just go out and ride your bike. Not sitting on a computer debating about how a carbon rear triangle is better or worse than what you already have, or how your pedals could be 0.05grams lighter and lower your centre of gravity by 1mm.
This guy embraces life, and with it biking. Live to ride. Ride to live.

I fear unfortunately some people these days actually do care too much about the color of their components and whether their TLD pajamas match and look good rather than getting out and riding their bike.

 You guys are missing something huge. If I could be out riding as much as I wanted you would never see me on this site or any other. But I can't do that and watch my kids so here I am. If I was independently wealthy I'd have my bike outfitted like his and I wouldn't have to debate so much what changes I can afford to make to improve my performance. As it is, this year's $150 to go into my bike is predestined to go into a crank since I didn't read up enough before I bought my current piece of crap.
Also, notice when he said he had a 16 lbs SS full suspension. He knows how much his bikes weigh and you can bet he read up on his parts before he bought them (except what sram gave him). He has some of the best crap money can buy on his bikes so of course he doesn't have to worry about which stuff would improve performance since nothing really will. And if it does he gets it, puts it on one of his million awesome bikes to try it out. He can take a very laid back approach to his wheels since there is no investment on his part.

If you can afford to make major changes whenever you want then you don't need to worry about it. He's at that point. Those of us who aren't will keep reading and posting to help each other get the most bang for our buck and fill the off-trail time.

 it's one thing to read and research parts for WHEN YOU NEED THEM, its another to live on the forums "armchair bike" debating about the intricacies of things that in the real world have little bearing on your ride.

i'm not debating many of us have other priorities (i'm currently sitting in my office at work), and forums like pinkbike are great to bring people together. but sometimes we need to step away from the computer and just go ride out bikes.

 taletotell, do you think he was always at this point of sponsors giving him everything? He's someone who dedicated his life to biking, despite the little break for a degree, but still it's his personal attitude that got him to where he is today and I honestly don't get why you think him having sponsors changes that. Maybe it's a bit of jealousy, which I don't blame you for at all, but he can still not care about what parts he has and still get the best ones. That's how it works and honestly, it seems like he deserves it for putting up a TON of risk for such little potential reward all for the love of riding a bike. So yes he doesn't have to invest his money into parts but do you honestly think that's why he acts the way he does? I think you need to bike a mile in his shoes to be able to make such absurd assumptions in the area of comparing your life to his.

 picks his parts on color and doesn't care about weight , yet ALL of his bikes have nothing but x.0 .. you build any bike with nothing but the best you dont have to worry about anything but color. not even the cost of the groupo . #jussayin'

 scott-townes. I'd love to bike a mile on his bikes . I certainly don't know everything and he earned his sponsorship just as anyone who has a sponsorship does. I like his surfer attitude too. laid back is cool always. I just think it is easy to read too much into some of his statements. I think he was mocking the posers who are more worried about their matching bike parts than getting on the the trail. Honestly that is what I think of when I see people blowing hundreds on clothes with logos some sweatshop kid sewed on for 15 centavos.
I think driftmonster has a valid point. The man's bikes show that he obviously puts a lot of thought into his bikes (a good thing clearly), but maybe he doesn't think everyone needs to worry about it to have good time.
I am beginning to feel like we are arguing religion. Behold the holy Ross said we must all stand on our left feet on tuesdays!

 I have a question for everyone. What makes XX better than X0? Is it the durability, weight, or reliability? Or is it just like Shimano's XT and XTR, where XT has the same durability and reliability, but XTR is for the racer, making it a few GRAMS lighter. Thanks.

 I'm so happy I live in this great state!! Only and hour and a half from fruita/grand junction and then my home trails in gunnison plus all of the places in my hometown of cortez. Great Stuff!!
